Hug

If you feel like you could use a hug today, you're definitely not alone. I was reading this passage from theologian James Baldwin, and I thought of all the people who get these BETWEEN Sacred Texts...

"The moment we cease to hold each other, the moment we break faith with one another, the sea engulfs us and the light goes out.”

We are called to hold each other. To embrace each other. To open our loving arms, filling the space between us with God's gentle light.

There is a raging sea of anger and violence all around us. And so, we must hold each other.

We are the people who are meant to go out into the rough waters of our lives and keep the sea from engulfing our neighbors.

I hope this text message serves as something of an embrace for you today. I hope you know you're not alone. I hope you know I have faith in you, and despite the best efforts of all the bad news out there, I have faith in humanity.
