Meet Our Co-Creators
BETWEEN Co-Creators are a circle of open-hearted companions helping shape this sacred experiment in community and connection. They are listeners and leaders, poets and planners, builders and believers who have said “yes” to guiding BETWEEN’s evolution. Co-Creators offer their wisdom, energy, feedback, and presence — not as directors, but as collaborative contributors inventing new ways to engage faithfully at every turn. Rooted in sacred conversation, shared leadership, and spiritual curiosity, this team helps us live out our belief that the space between us is holy ground.

Hi. I'm Matt.
I’m Matt Mattson. I’m the Executive Director and lead co-creator of BETWEEN. I am a writer, speaker, social mystic, and spiritual leader dedicated to cultivating sacred human connection.
I believe “church” (and faith exploration) can and should happen in our conversations with others. The space between us is sacred. It is a holy space. The way we fill that space — the choices about the way we interact with people — is our faith-come-to-life. I want your coffee shop chats, your small talk in line at the grocery store, your social media interactions, and your dinner table conversations to feel sacred and holy. Because they are. God (however you understand that idea) lives in the space between us.
I have a fun professional background that I’m really proud of (Learn more about me here). I am the author of Cathedrals of Connection (click here). Oh, and I live in Colorado (USA) with my wife and two daughters.
I believe deeply that I was put on this planet to help people gather together to talk about the important stuff of life. Thanks for gathering with me here!

Hi. I'm Dani.
I’m Dani Hillyer. I was born and raised in Colorado, and these days I serve two congregations in the Denver Presbytery as the Associate Pastor of Cultivation and Formation. Titles are fine, but what really matters to me is walking with people as they explore who God created them to be.
I believe faith isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence. My father-in-law, who pastored for decades, often reminds me, “People work is messy work.” I’ve found that to be true in the most beautiful way. God shows up right in the middle of our questions, struggles, and even our failures.
When I’m not serving in ministry, I’m probably outside exploring the beauty of Colorado and seeing the world through the eyes of my two curious toddlers. My husband works in mental health, so our dinner table conversations often dive deep, and I love how they remind me that the soul and the mind are always connected.
At BETWEEN, my hope is to create space for encouragement, honesty, and connection – so that together we can grow in faith, especially in the many spaces between one another.

Hi. I'm Erica.
Hey y'all, I’m Erica! I’m passionate about creating spaces where people feel genuinely seen, supported, and inspired. My heart is to foster connection in a way that embraces authenticity and the power of our shared stories because I believe in more than surface-level interactions. We need people who stay with us through life’s highs and hard moments, offering hope and care in the spaces between. When my husband was critically injured in Afghanistan in 2011, I learned first-hand how valuable this type of community is and strive to build it in my everyday life.
These days you’ll find me podcasting with my husband of over 20 years, parenting teenagers, and sharing my favorite brands and events around Kansas City. Backyard BBQs are my jam, I’m powered by coffee, love all things Christmas and I’m always down for a Chiefs, Royals, Sporting, or Current game.
I’m so grateful to be a part of this space with you as we build community one sacred encounter at a time.

Hi. I'm Tom.
I'm Tom McCormally — a storyteller at heart, because I believe stories bring people together and help us make sense of the world. I’ve spent my career as a journalist, a communications professional for children’s hospitals, a political postcard writer, and the author of two books (one on psychosocial/holistic health care and another, a hospital history titled For All Children Everywhere).
These days, I write postcards to my grandchildren, collaborate with my bride to make the world a healthier, happier, and safer place, teach and learn from college students, protest injustice, and lead a Sunday morning group of adults as we grow in spirituality and compassion.
I also play drums in a classic rock band — because I believe music is a healer, a unifier, a soul-stretcher, and one of the best mediums for storytelling.
Raised in a large Midwest family and now living in Kansas City, I carry a deep sense of community and connection that I try to share with others as we seek the sacredness we all crave.

Hi. I'm Meiko.
I’m Meiko Seymour. I help people meet in the holy space between us. I’m a pastor, church planter, and community listener who believes God loves to show up in conversations at the kitchen table, the coffee line, and on the sidewalk where neighbors linger. Justice and belonging matter to me because people matter to God.
I live in St. Petersburg, Florida, where I’m planting Uncommon City and learning to build a church that feels like an honest dinner with friends. My work looks like Sabbath-style tables, prayer walks, and listening sessions that make room for lament, hope, and change. Beyond the church, I run an administrative help business that sets up systems so good-hearted work can move farther and faster.
My roots run through the Wesleyan holiness stream and a contemplative, urban-monastic rhythm. I’ve spent years in race equity and DEI spaces, practicing slow presence, courageous conversation, and the kind of neighborliness that refuses to give up on each other. I’m married to Simone, and we’re raising our daughter, Portlynn, who teaches me about wonder and popcorn.
If we get a moment together, tell me your story. I’ll bring the questions, you bring yourself, and we’ll meet God between us.

Hi. I'm Justin.
I’m Justin Spurlock. I have the honor of serving as the senior pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
When I tell people I’m a pastor, sometimes people close down… Understandably so. There are a lot of people who have been hurt by religious institutions. In fact, I grew up in a not-very-inclusive religious experience. I’ve been on a journey my whole life to include more and more people. To be curious about all kinds of ideas, religions, spiritualities, and faiths. I’m inspired by all sorts of different ideas. (Watch This Video).
I received my M.Div from McCormick Theological Seminary and I have an MA in Organizational Leadership, with additional certificates in Church Conflict Management and Religious Fundraising.
I’m a perpetual asker - one of the reasons I think I thrive in ministry is that I’ve found that it is all about relationships. Human connection is everything!
I live in the Denver suburbs with my wife Sarah and son Cayson. I enjoy sipping bourbon, preferably outdoors while reading a good book. I can’t wait to meet you.

Hi. I'm Francois.
Following the Light has been the guiding thread in Frankie Greyling’s journey as a digital nomad. Rooted primarily in the teachings of Yeshua and walking through life as a follower of The Way, Frankie seeks to live with humility, compassion, and authenticity. His path isn’t defined by labels, but by carrying the presence of love, truth, and service into everyday life.
Life on the road has revealed both the freedom and the fragility of the global village. Many digital nomads long for community and a deeper sense of connection while navigating constant change. Out of this experience, Frankie’s mission has grown: to nurture spaces where faith and belonging can flourish beyond borders. He believes that wherever we travel, we can still walk together in the Light, offering grace and encouragement along the way.
Frankie hopes to embody a simple truth: that the teachings of the Most High point us toward lives of kindness, presence, and courage. By Following the Light, he invites others to discover that faith isn’t something we leave behind as we move—it’s something we carry with us, creating a living community between us, across the world.

Hi. I'm Ryan.
Ryan Taylor is a spiritual director, storyteller, and author of Awkward Spirituality: Divinity in Ordinary Life. A self-described post-evangelical (maybe even post-Christian) truth-teller, Ryan has spent a lifetime wrestling with the sacred in all its messy, mysterious forms. After earning an MDiv from a conservative seminary, he took a sharp left turn—becoming an armchair liberation theologian, a Hebrew enthusiast shaped by over a decade of study with a wild rabbinical crew, and a contemplative goofball who somehow balances fifth-grade-boy humor with monastic depth.
For 15 years, Ryan served as executive director of a Denver hospitality house alongside friends navigating homelessness, incarceration, and immigration. Those relationships reshaped his theology and deepened his commitment to justice, compassion, and presence.
Originally from rural southern Indiana, Ryan has called urban Denver home for over 20 years. He’s a father of two teenage boys, a former college basketball player, a hip-hop and gardening devotee, and a spiritual guide for those wandering the “edge of the inside.”
If you're looking for a spiritual director, a fellow questioner, or just a cosmic conversation partner, Ryan would be honored to connect. He’s not chasing platforms—just creating space for holy wonder, awkward grace, and radical love.
