Reunion
It’s Matt Mattson from BETWEEN sending you a “Sacred Text” 😇💬
I’ve been reading a lot of Thomas Merton’s writing lately. “it is precisely in the recovery of our union with our brothers in Christ that we discover God and know Him…”
I love this line. It is in our re-uniting with each other… in the healing of divisions… in the bridging of divides… in our sacred encounters with one another that we truly discover God.
In this tumultuous societal moment, this insight feels like a tearful lament. We’re being called back together.
Speaking of reuniting… there’s this bit from Genesis 33:4: “But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept.”
What small act can you and I take this week to reunite with those who have become distant?
If we were warmly sharing a cup of coffee or tea today, what would we prayerfully discuss together?
