Here

I’m here if you need me.

Sometimes when I send these Sacred Text messages, I’ll get a flood of responses. Tons of people will reply right away with prayer requests (and sometimes they’ll offer to pray for me). A bunch of folks will sometimes immediately share heavy and beautiful stuff they’re traversing. And sometimes a whole lot of people will just chat with me via text.

Other times… crickets.🦗

Both are totally, totally, totally great.

I’m here if you need me.

The old prophet, Isaiah, told us that God will be there, too.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you.”

Isaiah 43:2 (NRSV)

I think we’re supposed to do this work of God’s… we’re supposed to provide this sacred presence… for others.

When people are passing through rough waters, I think we’re supposed to be with them. When people are crossing raging rivers, I think we’re supposed to be with them.

When you need us, we are with you.

So… I’m curious (and I’d love to read your response to one of these via text reply):

  • Who in your life might need to hear, “I’m here if you need me”?

  • When have you most felt held or accompanied in your own rough waters?

  • How can I pray for you today?
